This study aims to explore the most important modern trends in human resource management in the context of the knowledge economy. Additionally, it delves into key concepts and features of contemporary human resource management, discussing recent transformations, significant roles and objectives, and the positive and negative impacts of the current business environment on HR.

The study emphasizes that the last quarter of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century witnessed the emergence of the knowledge economy, a concept that has brought significant changes at both macro and micro levels. Countries are now investing diligently in knowledge to reap its substantial returns, and organizations are seeking intellectual capital both internally and externally to achieve competitive advantages essential for their survival and growth.

Heavy machinery and physical capital are no longer the primary tools of economic activity; instead, knowledge has become the main driver of economic activity within the knowledge economy.

The researchers of the study "Modern Trends in Human Resource Management" highlight that every beginning has an end, and between them lies a life cycle. This applies whether discussing a plant, a person, a civilization, a product, an organization, or even an entire economy. Ancient economies were based on hunting and gathering for thousands of years. This was followed by agricultural economies, which lasted about ten thousand years, where land was the primary resource, and landowners valued people similarly to livestock. The industrial era then emerged in the mid-18th century, lasting about two hundred years, characterized by machinery and physical capital as primary economic resources. In this era, industrialists valued people as parts of the machinery. From the 1950s, a fourth type of economy emerged, known as the information economy, which has since evolved into the knowledge economy.
